Xerosis is the term for dry skin. Emollients are prescribed for dry skin. One caveat is that no emollients should be used in between the toes, as it may cause maceration. The two emollients that are commonly prescribed are Lac Hydrin 12% cream and Urea 40% cream. Both are to be used twice daily, or BID.
